Interested in Our Division

The Ancient Order of Hibernians is the oldest Irish Catholic fraternal organization in the United States. The St. Patrick Division of Cincinnati proudly continues that tradition by bringing together Irish Catholic men who share a commitment to faith, heritage, charity, and brotherhood.

Whether you are looking to reconnect with your Irish heritage, strengthen your Catholic faith, or simply meet other men who share your values, the Ancient Order of Hibernians offers a welcoming brotherhood where you can participate as much as your schedule allows.

Our division works to preserve Irish culture, support the Catholic Church, and serve the Cincinnati community through charitable work, cultural events, and social gatherings throughout the year.

Membership

Common questions and answers about membership at St.Patrick Division No.1

Who Can Join

Membership is open to men who are at least 16 years old, are practicing Catholics, and are either Irish-born or of Irish descent. Catholic Priests and Deacons are always welcome to join and are not required to be of Irish ancestry.

If you are unsure whether you meet these qualifications, we still encourage you to apply. Our Membership Chair will be happy to speak with you and discuss your situation.

Interested but Not Catholic?

Men who are interested in the Hibernians, but aren't Catholic, may participate as Associate Members. Associate Members can attend many of our social and community events but do not participate in the monthly business meetings.  If you love your Irish Heritage, consider joining and enjoy a great experience.

Note: Associate Membership may not exceed 10% of our total membership so you may be on a waiting list until the membership expands enough that we can add more people.

Who Typically Joins the Hibernians

Members of our division come from many walks of life but share common values of faith, family, friendship, and service.

Our membership includes fathers, professionals, tradesmen, business owners, veterans, teachers, and retirees. Some members grew up deeply connected to Irish traditions, while others are rediscovering their heritage later in life.

Many join looking for fellowship with other Catholic men. Others want to become more involved in charitable work, Irish culture, and strengthening their community.

No matter your background, if you value faith, friendship, family, and Irish heritage, you will find a welcoming brotherhood in the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

What Is the Time Commitment?

A common question from prospective members is how much time is required. The answer is simple: participate as much as your schedule allows.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians understands that family, faith, and work come first. Members are encouraged to take part in the activities that make sense for them and their families.

Throughout the year we host a variety of events including monthly business meetings, Pub Night at the Irish Heritage Center of Cincinnati, our annual family picnic, community service projects, sporting event gatherings, cultural celebrations, and more.

Some members attend many events, while others participate occasionally when their schedule allows. There is no expectation to attend everything — the goal is simply to stay connected to the brotherhood in whatever way works best for you.

Visit our Calendar page to see upcoming events and check back regularly as new activities are added.
